Infant Swimming Resource is the safest and most effective provider of survival swimming lessons worldwide, teaching ISR Self-Rescue skills to children ages 6 months to 6 years old. With 50 years of experience and the highest safety standards in the industry, ISR is able to deliver the best survival swimming instruction in the world today. The result? Over 8 million safe and effective lessons delivered, providing children with a foundation for safety and a lifetime of fun in and around the water.
Through our survival swim lesson program your child can learn critical survival skills and a foundation for lifelong enjoyment of the water. Lessons are always one-on-one and instruction will be tailored to your child’s skill and comfort level. We do not have “group” lessons, because we believe your child should have our undivided attention. We customize their lessons, especially for them, to ensure the safest, most efficient lessons. We want each child to experience success and use positive reinforcement to recognize each accomplishment, no matter how small. Students attend 10-minute lessons every Monday-Friday.
6 to 12 months old
The focus is on teaching the child to roll onto
their back to float, rest and breathe, and to
be able to maintain this life-saving position
until help arrives.
1 to 6 years old
The focus is on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side
of the pool, where they can either crawl out or until they can be rescued.
Refresher Lessons
Children grow and develop rapidly from
infants to toddlers and young children. In accordance with this growth, children
enrolled in ISR return periodically to
participate in Refresher Lessons to fine-tune
their existing skills.

The Sooner, The Safer!
Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) with its Self-Rescue program is nationally recognized as the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. With over 50 years
of research and development, highly-trained certified Instructors committed to safety, and a proven history of success, parents can rest assured that their children are receiving the best possible instruction
in the world today.
ISR believes pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy and our over 300,000 ISR graduates and over 800 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves.
Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences; at ISR we take that ability and teach them skills to potentially save themselves if they find themselves in the water alone.
Meet the Instructor
I found ISR in 2018 when my sister introduced me to this amazing world. She had taken her children to lessons for years and I could see the difference between her kiddos and mine with their ability in the water. They were more skilled and confident in the water and able to swim-float-swim getting to the edge of lakes and pools
I had taken a Mommy and me class with my baby and there was just no comparison. She had become an instructor after taking her kiddos and loving the work herself. Learning that there was a need for instructors, I did a poolside visit and knew right away ISR lessons is what I was looking for in a career change. I have always enjoyed working with kids and I love the water. This was a match made for me.
In 2019 I trained with Mr. Michael Patrella and began working with his team teaching ISR. I learned a lot from him as my Master Instructor. After working with ISR Grand Rapids for a time, I started ISR West Michigan my own business in 2021. ISR West Michigan is growing, reaching over 400 families teaching babies and young kids to learn to self rescue. This is the most rewarding career I have ever had. I look forward to every new kiddo and enjoy every day in the water.
I love my swim families, working with amazing kids and families is what makes my work so great! Keeping kids safe around water has become a passion and I do my best to uphold the goals of ISR that not one more child drowns.

Water Safety
Even if your child has had swimming lessons, no child is drown-proof and there is absolutely no substitute for adult supervision. Drowning is the
leading cause of accidental death for children between the ages of one and four. At ISR, we believe in layers of protection because we know that
sometimes supervision fails.
The most critical line of defense
is adult supervision. No level of aquatic skill can replace active supervision. If your child is ever missing, look in the water
first.
Install a permanent 4-sided fence with
self-locking gates. Ensure that the pool
fence is at least 3-5 feet from the pool
edge.
Make sure all doors and windows
leading to the pool are locked
and alarmed.
ISR’s Self-Rescue training is an added
layer of protection, teaching your child
water survival skills in a completely safe environment.
If an emergency happens, it is essential parents and families are prepared. Learn to perform CPR on children and adults and remember to update those skills regularly.
